For a full-size bath towel, 600–800 GSM is the range that actually dries an adult without staying damp all day. Our bath towels are woven at 700 GSM — heavy enough to feel plush and absorb properly, light enough to dry overnight in an Indian bathroom.

Look for three things: certified organic cotton, a stated GSM, and no optical brighteners or silicone softeners. Ours are made from certified organic cotton grown and woven in India, at 700 GSM, with nothing added to fake the softness.

Two per person is the working number — one in use, one in the wash. A couple is comfortable with four bath towels, two hand towels and two face towels, which is exactly how our sets are composed.

Usually fabric softener or too much detergent. Both coat the cotton fibres and stop them taking water. Wash towels on their own, use half the detergent you think you need, skip softener entirely, and run one wash with a cup of white vinegar to strip the build-up.

Machine wash warm, no fabric softener, no bleach. Tumble dry low or line dry in shade. Wash new towels once before first use — organic cotton reaches full absorbency after two or three washes.

No. Weight and drying time are different things. Our 700 GSM towels are woven with a low-twist yarn and an open weave that lets air through, so they dry overnight in most Indian homes. In a humid coastal bathroom, hang them spread out rather than folded over a rod.

Size and job. A bath towel dries your whole body after a shower. A hand towel lives at the basin for hands. A face towel is the smallest, for washing and drying your face. All three are made in the same 700 GSM cotton with the same dobby border.
