Pillows that breathe, and let you sleep cool

Two natural pillows, two clearly different feels. Both are 18 x 28 inches, wrapped in 100% organic cotton, and made without polyurethane memory foam. This page gives you the facts to pick correctly the first time.

The short answer

Kapok is a plant fibre from silk-cotton seed pods: light, airy, foam-free and adjustable, so it suits hot sleepers and anyone who wants to tune pillow height. Neembus pairs a down-alternative fibre fill with a quilted, neem-infused organic cotton shell for a softer, squishier pillow that holds a steady gusseted height. Both measure 18 x 28 inches and both use organic cotton covers.

Match the pillow to how you actually sleep

Loft — the height of the pillow under your head — is the single biggest comfort variable. Aim to keep your nose in line with the centre of your chest.

Loft guidance by sleeping position

You sleep mostly Gap to fill Loft to aim for Our suggestion
On your side Shoulder width — the largest gap High Kapok, filled generously; Neembus works for narrower shoulders
On your back Curve of the neck Medium Either — Neembus holds medium loft without adjustment
On your stomach Almost none Low Kapok, with fibre removed until nearly flat
You change position all night Varies through the night Medium, forgiving Neembus — squishable and self-recovering

What each fill actually is

Kapok

Kapok — silk cotton, or ilavam panju in Tamil — is the lightweight fibre inside the seed pods of the tropical silk-cotton tree. It is hollow, buoyant and roughly eight times lighter than conventional cotton, which is why it traps far less heat than dense foam. Amouve gins the fibre (removes the seeds) before filling, so the loft stays even. It is plant-based and unprocessed, with no polyurethanes and no off-gassing.

Neem infusion

Neem has been used in Ayurvedic practice for centuries and is traditionally valued as anti-bacterial and anti-microbial. On the Neembus pillow the neem is applied to the quilted organic cotton shell rather than to the fill, which is where your skin spends the night. It is a natural finish on a cotton cover, not a medical treatment or a claim to treat any condition.

Frequently asked questions

Which Amouve pillow should I buy — Kapok or Neembus?

Pick Kapok if you sleep hot or want to tune the height yourself by adding or removing fill. Pick Neembus if you want a plush, down-like pillow that holds a steady height with no adjustment.

What size are Amouve pillows?

Both pillows are 18 x 28 inches, the standard Indian size. US and European pillowcases will not fit correctly — see the size guide above.

Are these pillows suitable for neck pain?

Comfort depends on getting the loft right for your sleeping position rather than on the fill itself. Use the loft table above as a starting point. We are not able to give medical advice — speak to a doctor about persistent pain.

Can I wash an organic pillow?

Wash the cover, not the fill. Both covers are removable; keep kapok fill dry and air it in the sun instead of washing it.

How often should a pillow be replaced?

Replace when the pillow stops springing back to shape overnight — usually two to three years, and sooner if it stays flat after fluffing.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. Orders are made in India and dispatched worldwide in 48 to 72 working hours.
